This months sibling support session we made doggy pizza style treats (topped with scrambled egg and cheese) as a very special, occasional treat for our wonderful dogs. We also played a guess the dog game.

Here we can see that assistance dog Lilly is really excited to try the treats!

Our sibling session is open to all siblings and children in the same household with assistance dog clients. We want our wonderful young carers to have a place with us

Have you heard about our photovoice project on the barriers and inequality young disabled people face?

Young disabled people often face barriers and inequality which can result in isolation and suffering. For this project, we have provided a selection of disabled assistance dog partnerships with a camera to capture barriers and inequality they face/witness relating to being disabled young people over a 12 week period.

To give the young people maximum freedom in how they share their experiences they have very limited restrictions on what they are permitted to photograph. Their brief is:

'To photograph anything which is a barrier to you participating in society as others would. This includes physical and non-physical barriers AND to photograph anything which makes you feel like you are not accepted as a disabled person.'

With the images collect we will be creating a visual display as well as a written report. Once we have gathered the data from all project participants, we will work with the young participants to determine how we can best share our project.

If you're a young person aged 8 to 25 year old (or the parent/carer of a 8 to 25 year old) who is accepted on our assistance dog program and you'd like to participate please submit the application form found in the company teams area.

So great to see one of our fully trained assistance dogs, Flossy, supporting her young handler Lucy at her epilepsy hospital appointment today. Flossy makes so many public places like the hospital much more accessible for Lucy.
