If you wish to train your dog as an assistance dog with us, you first need to pass our bronze award. The bronze award is a rolling monthly subscription membership for a subsidised cost of £45 per month for self funding families OR £70pcm where funding through a third party or external budget including through PB, short breaks, budget from NHS or LA, EHCP funding, school funding or charity funding.
The bronze award program which ensures everyone accessing the assistance dog program has the same foundation knowledge & handling skills as well as that the dogs are at a stage of their training that they can begin training assistance dog specific tasks & behaviours OR that they're ready to begin training to work in therapeutic environments with their handler.
The bronze award includes:
All bronze award applicants must complete the bronze award assessment in person in Nottingham. These are group assessments and take place in Nottingham once per month (usually on a Sunday morning). There is also aandatory theory section which can either be completed as part of the face to face assessment or separately as a theory assignment (written or creative project).
PLEASE NOTE: You cannot use membership at this level as evidence your dog is in training as an assistance dog. Dogs on our bronze award program MUST NOT be training in non pet dog friendly businesses (even with permission) or training in any equipment which labels them as an assistance dog or service dog in training.

In the bronze award, we give you access to training covering:
Alongside the practical behaviours we teach in the zoom sessions, there are two bronze award theory programs, one for potential therapy dogs and one for potential assistance dog. You will need to read/ listen to the information in the theory section (average around 3 hours to complete). At the end of this you can either complete a written or creative assignment or you can opt for the theory questions to be included within the practical assessment.
Our bronze award is different to any other organisations training awards and therefore we do not accept any other achievement (such as the kennel club good citizen awards) as replacement for the bronze award. However, some people who have completed training elsewhere can get through the bronze award quickly.
