I experience medical events which impact on my safety, wellbeing or independence.

We work with clients who experience a variety of acute medical events including diabetes, unexplained hypo's, epilepsy, non epileptic seizures and POTS but are always open to support medical alert & response training where a dog can assist. 

There are lots of tasks which can support with acute medical episodes, including:

  • Alerting to oncoming medical events
  • Pulling emergency cord
  • Pressing emergency call button on phone
  • Lead to safe place to lie down or an empty seat
  • Fetch phone to handler
  • Push bag under legs if unconscious
  • Fetch beverage or snack to support recovery
  • Provide deep pressure for reassurance
  • Pull blanket over unresponsive handler
  • Alert to presence of life threatening allergen
  • Nudge head to side if saliva pooling in mouth
  • Deep pressure to provide reassurance
  • Tactile stimulation to help regain awareness
  • Fetching testing kit
  • Fetching medication, hypo kit, suction etc. 
  • Bark for attention if handler unconcious
  • Fetch and pass medical care cue card to bystanders
  • Alert to CGM alarms
  • Pull clothes to bring handler onto side
