Goal setting & creating training plans


Sometimes, in our training journey's it can feel like we have so many things we need to improve to reach the next level and that nothing is progressing forwards because you're trying to learn/ improve/ change so many things at the same time. 

If you're feeling like this, we recommend structuring goal setting and creating SMART training plans to enable you to focus your training on a specific area and see the achievements and steps towards the overall goals you're making more clearly. 

SMART goes are goals which are:

S - Specific

M - Measurable

A - Achievable

R - Relevant

T - time bound

An example of a SMART goal would be 'for my dog to not bark at any individual dogs when over 2 metres away from the other dog by the 1st of July' instead of 'i want my dog to stop being reactive. The SMART goal is clear and achievable in the given timeframe, the non smart goal example is a very broad goal which could take months or even years.  

For clients, you can use the training zone activities to help plan your training this week.
